Stainless SMA Air Gap

The stainless steel SMA 905 and Air Gap SMA 905 is a connector style common in Medical applications and general laser coupling. It was one of the first "power connector" types developed, is decades old, and still a workhorse, so of course we do it. 

Copper SMA

Take the ubiquitous SMA 905 and make it out of a proprietary copper alloy to promote machinability, robustness and heat conduction and you get the Copper SMA which we have been providing for nearly 20 years! ALSO AVAILABLE AS FREE STANDING AIR GAP!

Copper TD-80

Need a little more heat management than the Cu SMA can provide? That is why the Cu TD-80 format was developed. With a 4mm barrel diameter this connector can handle almost twice the heat that the Cu SMA can, and yes, we've been doing this one for years as well.

All Glass Fused End

The HP2.5 splices the fiber to a beam-expanding endcap which is fused to the outer ferrule. An epoxyless, easy to clean termination that is non absorbing and eliminates problems associated with free-standing fiber tip designs. Modestripping occurs inside the transparent ferrule, dumping residual pump power and giving protection against mis-coupled or back-reflected light. Ideal for high power fiber laser and diode pump applications. Can stand alone or be packaged into FC, Cu SMA, or TD-80.

Cladding Mode Strippers

When power is high and energy is injected into the cladding, it should be stripped  before it enters the cable proper or the cable can be destroyed. Doing that takes a Cladding Mode Stripper (CMS). CMS are a section of fiber surrounded by other suitable materials to prevent guiding in the cladding and thereby forcing the dumping of that unwanted energy. While they are primarily useful on the input side, they can also be useful on output to enable effective collimating or focusing.

Water Cooling

When the power is up and things start to heat up, you may just need to resort to active cooling. XSOF™ has been doing active water cooling of end fittings for a long time. Many things govern how much heat can be dissipated,  but if one of our standard designs won't work for your application our experience allows us to upgrade to something that will.

All of the incredible applications for PCF and HCPCF require real world devices where the end of the PCF/HCPCF is sealed or where it is packaged in a sealed fitting. XSOF™ has the tools and knowledge to directly seal the PCF/HCPCF and then polish the end facet to the thinest solid length with great precision. Alternatively, XSOF™ can end cap the PCF sealing it that way. After either operation XSOF™ can package the result in a number of end fittings. XSOF™ is regularly delivering packaged PCF  to

End Capping


XSOF™ is end capping all kinds of fibers now. From SM to PMSM to LMA or multimode (MM) or MM Large Core. Typically this is done to focus through the end cap and reduce the energy density on the fiber facet when in air.  Therefore, its not just the end capping that matters, it is the precision of the end cap polishing that creates the length of the end cap required to make the focusing effective and with a finish that is pristine. And, if you need and angle polish or AR coating, we do that too!

Larger Format


Connectors for nearly any size fiber with TIR of fiber <10um! When formats beyond the Cu SMA or the Cu TD-80 are required,  when the power is high and the energy density is destroying fiber ends, even fused fiber ends, that is when tight tolerances matter and when the medium and larger format windows, waveguide end caps and the larger fittings are required. The Medium formats have end caps approaching 6mm in diameter, while the large format ends can see waveguides used that have up to 10mm input

Fused Splitters & Combiners - Bundles.


No, we cannot circumvent or over come LaGrange Invariance though we are asked to on a regular basis. But we can make small fiber count fused components for high temperature applications or applications where slightly more efficient end packing or the elimination of organics can be justified. Additionally,  where physical contact combiners or splitters create problems from reflective surfaces shedding too much energy we can eliminate that by fusing the combiner or splitter.  We are happy to discuss your unique application.

Square Fibers-PM Alignment-Hollow Waveguides-MIR..

We couldn't be a specialty optical fiber company if we turned our back on the unique properties of Square Fibers for creating more of a Lambertian Distribution on the output of multimode fibers, or being able to rotationally align PM fibers. fabricate assemblies with Fluoride Glasses or Chalcogenides or even Hollow Waveguides. We've learned the hard way so you don't have to suffer through the learning curve.
